Holy Week in San Pedro del Pinatar :

It was declared a place of Tourist Interest in 1993 but it started in 1951.
These processions are a typical manifestation full of colour and beauty and are a characteristic of Holy Week in Southeast Spain.

PROCESSION OF DOLORES VIRGIN:
The processions will begin with the image of the Virgin Dolores, this has been a throne procession since 1950. Participants: Escort Group of San Juan Evangelista, throne and the Holy Grail, and throne of the Virgin Dolores with ladies dressed in Spanish dress wearing mantillas.

PALM SUNDAY:

PROCESSION OF PALMS
It commemorates the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. In the churches of St. Peter the Apostle and Our Lady of Carmen Lo Pagan, blessed Palms and olive branches are carried by the congregation in procession through the streets of the town.

PROCESSION OF JESUS TRIUMPHANT
Participants: Throne of Jesus Triumphant belonging to St. John’s Brotherhood and a group of Nazarenes representing Holy Week.

SAINT TUESDAY

PROCESSION OF THE PROMISES
Participants: Throne of the Devout Virgin, ladies in Spanish dress with mantillas / and a band of Grenadiers.

PROCESSION OF PRENDIMIENTO
Participants: thrones of Jesus praying in the Orchard, Christ of Medinacelli and Forgiving Jesus with penitents.

HOLY WEDNESDAY

PROCESSION OF VIA CRUCIS- MAR MENOR CHRIST
It is the only procession on the shores of the Mar Menor where fervent prayers are given in silence through the streets of the town of Lo Pagan making 14 stops during the Via Crucis.
Participants: trumpet and drum bands, Penitents carrying the Throne of Mar Menor Christ on their shoulders.

HOLY THURSDAY

PROCESSION REPRESENTING JESUS MEETING HIS HOLY MOTHER IN THE STREETS OF BITTERNESS.
Procession with 3 different thrones and different itineraries leaving simultaneously. They meet at the Constitution Square (opposite St. Peter’s Church), and join altogether.
Participants: Throne of Jesus the Nazarene, Romans and the Throne of the Virgin Veronica ; Throne of St. John the Evangelist and Throne of the Virgin Dolores.

PROCESSION OF SILENCE
Penitential Via Crucis with the image of the Blessed Christ accompanied by drums and a crowd of people.

GOOD FRIDAY

FUNERAL PROCESSION OF THE SAINT
Noted for its procession and ceremony dating back to 1952. This procession is done in an organized manner, as previously it was a spontaneous act of participation, although its origins date from the eighteenth century and was called the Procession of the Souls. The Thrones: Holy Grail, Jesus Praying, Jesus of Medinacelli, St. James, St. Peter the Apostle, pious Veronica the pious, Jesus Nazareno Cristo del Perdón Stmo, Piedad Virgin accompanied by "Manolas" dressed in Spanish dress with mantilla, The Holy Cross accompanied by the Romans and "Manolas" dressed in Spanish dress with mantillas, Holy Sepulcher, St. John the Evangelist and Our Lady of Sorrows.

EASTER SUNDAY

PROCESSION OF JESUS MEETING HIS MOTHER
Procession with 2 simultaneous and different paths arriving at the same point at the intersection of Plaza Luis Molina, C / Avda Reyes Católicos and Dr. Artero Guirao.
With the arrival of Saint John, the Virgin of Sorrows and her son Jesus, we reach the peak of this procession, the change of the mantle of the Virgin, after which is the firing of a monumental fireworks display where dozens of pigeons are released with the sound the of bells from the church of San Pedro.
Participants: Sacred Heart, lying on the Calvary Cross, St John the Evangelist and Our Lady of Sorrows accompanied by the 16 brotherhoods in San Pedro del Pinatar
